Whether a longform essay, podcast, or video, the heartbeat of Greatland is a raw and fearless voice. We don’t obsess over word counts, and we don’t compromise when it comes to authentic human expression. We are on a simple quest for stories that move us. We dream of narratives that stop us in our tracks. We are a place for storytellers bold enough to crack open the door and let us into their world—so that we may connect, feel, and know. In other words, Greatland is a place for you—the reader, the listener, the viewer—and a place for you, the storyteller.

Born in Alaska, Built For Humans Everywhere

Greatland comes from the Aleut word “alaxsxaq,” which is often translated into “the great land.” The word is said to be the origin for the name Alaska. For us, Greatland is a way of thinking about things. Much like its Alaskan roots, it stands for limitless and bold. It stands for freedom of expression. It’s a creative community open to writers and storytellers of all backgrounds to connect, grow, and explore their craft.
